: Profile of KSPCB Laboratories :

KSPCB has established three tiered environmental laboratories:

  • Central Environmental Laboratory - Bangalore (Click for more info...)

  • Divisional Environmental  Laboratories

    • Mysore .

    • Dharwad.

    • Mangalore.

    • Davangere.

    • Raichur.

  • Regional Environmental  Laboratories

    • Belgaum

    • Hassan.

    • Gulbarga

  • The laboratories are well equipped with sophisticated equipments

  • The role of these laboratories are to provide scientific support to the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board in the area of environmental analysis and data gathering.

  • Samples collected by the Regional Offices of the Board, Industries, Organisations and from general public are analysed.

  • The data gathered may have legal or policy formulation implications. As the scientific support centre, the goal of the environmental laboratories are to provide legally defensible environmental data.

Functions of the laboratory are as follows:

  • To evolve standardised  methods for sampling and analysis of various types of environmental pollutants

  • To carry out such investigations as may be directed by the State Government of Karnataka and/or Karnataka State Pollution Control Board to lay down standards for the quality of environment and discharge of environmental pollutants, to monitor the standards laid down.

  • To send periodical reports regarding its activities to the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board

  • To carry out other functions as may be entrusted to it from time to time.
